Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.
PDHPE provides students with opportunities to explore issues that are likely to impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others – now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence.
At FDPS there is weekly sport for all children run by accredited and specialised organisations. This year the program will include athletics, gymnastics and dance. Swimming lessons are offered for Years 1 and 2 in Term 4. Daily fitness activities are run by class teachers.
For years 3 - 6 there is opportunity to participate in PSSA (Public Schools Sporting Association) sport on Fridays. Those children who do not participate in PSSA, participate in a fitness session and rotate through a number of sports in order to develop their games skills.
